Q & A with Senator Sanders at 10:30
“We have tripled military spending since 1997, we must take a hard look at a bloated and wasteful Defense Department.”-Bernie Sanders
WE AGREE, BERNIE! LET US START BY TAKING A“HARD LOOK”AT YOUR SUPPORT OF THE F-35!
Senator Bernie Sanders says “WE MUST CONTINUE TO FIGHT” for the following:
BERNIE SAYS: We need to create decent paying jobs!
WE SAY: The F-35 program and military spending in general are the worst investment we can make in creating jobs. Imagine how many jobs we could create in renewable energy, healthcare and education for the $1.5 trillion we’re investing in the F-35, a program Bernie supports?
BERNIE SAYS: We must protect the environment and reduce global warming!
WE SAY: The US military is the largest single consumer of fossil fuels and contributor to carbon emissions on the planet. How can Bernie protect the environment and reverse global warming and also support the single largest contributor to these problems?
BERNIE SAYS: We need deficit reduction that is fair and protects Social Security and Medicare!
WE SAY: Our spending on war and weapons is the main culprit for our huge deficits.
How can Bernie advocate for “fair” deficit reductions that protect vulnerable populations and also support the out of control military spending (like the F-35 program) that is responsible for putting these programs in jeopardy?
With only a handful of prototype F-35 bombers produced so far, the F-35 is NOT TOO BIG TO FAIL and it is not the only option for the continued honorable and valuable service of the VT National Guard.
We need Bernie to say:
NO to community degradation
NO to out of control military spending
NO to basing the F-35 in Vermont
Thank you for your support. We hope to see you on Sunday!
Please call your Senator or Representative and ask them why they support the F35. Tell them you don't. Tell them mistakes were made in the initial scoring process and Burlington shouldn't even be a candidate for the F35.
